The contestant in control had to predict whether each card was higher or lower than the card before it. There were two rows of five cards: the top red row (for the champion) and the bottom blue row (for the challenger). Whoever is closer to the number got a chance at the cards. The other contestant would then say whether they thought the actual number was higher or lower than the first contestant's guess. The contestant he asked it to would provide what they thought the number of people who gave the answer the host gave. The host, Jim Perry, then asked a toss-up question, which was asked to 100 people before the show (example: 'We surveyed 100 lawyers: Have you ever defended a person who you believed was guilty? How many lawyers said they have?'). The challenger was represented by the color blue. The returning champion was represented by the color red. Two contestants fought against each other in the main game-the returning champion and a challenging contestant.

This version of the car game was based on the 'Judge the Jury' round on the short-lived Goodson game show, Mindreaders (1979).ĭuring its 4 ½ year run on the CBS version, Bob Eubanks had 10 winners on this show: In 1st place, Scott had won $61,353 in mid-1988, and was really the 2nd contestant ever to win 3 cars on the show (after Sheri) and was the second biggest winner in all versions of Card Sharks combined, until 2019 and achieved his record-breaking win without retiring undefeated in second place, Sheri had won $59,192 in 1987, who was the 1st contestant ever to win 3 cars, who was retired as a 5-time undefeated champion in third place, Chris had won $50,800 in early 1986, who was the 1st contestant not to retire as a 5-time undefeated champion, who was also the 1st contestant in the show's history to reach the $50,000 limit (though the limit was $75,000) and was the biggest winner not to retire undefeated in fourth place, Sonya had won $47,000 in mid-1986 in fifth place, Martha had won $43,946 in late 1986 which included a car and was retired as a 2nd contestant to be a retired 5-time undefeated champion, in the run in sixth place, Debbie had won $41,709 in early-to-mid 1988, who was the 1st 5-time retired undefeated champion of that same year ever to be retired and was the biggest winner of that same year, as well in seventh place, Lori had won $37,100 in early 1986, where, in one of her Money Cards run, she went double all the way until the Big Bet row in eighth place, Jim had won $36,300, also in early 1986, and was the 1st 5-time retired undefeated champion, in the history of the show in ninth place, Michael had won $36,000, also in early 1986, but had lost on his 5th shot to Cyndi and in tenth place, Cindy had won $31,750, in 1987, who also won both cars and had retired as a 5-time undefeated champion.Card Sharks is a game show that has aired in different versions since 1978. On the final episode, however, if the contestant was even one off, they still won the car. Missing by one in either direction won the contestant $500 as a consolation prize, while any other incorrect guess won nothing. The contestant moved the dial to the number they thought was correct, and if it was they won the car. To record their guess, the contestant used a special prop with a dial and the numbers 0 through 10 on it.

From Juntil the show's ending, the winning contestant had to correctly predict one final audience poll question.

During the special weeks when children played, the top prize was a trip to Hawaii (with either 'WIN' or 'HAWAII' displayed on one of the cards) and the children were given two Jokers to start. After the Money Cards round was over, a row of seven numbered cards was wheeled out, in front of them and the contestant placed whatever Jokers they'd earned over the cards in the hopes that behind one of them was the word 'CAR'. Three more were added to the Money Cards deck, and if a contestant uncovered them they received an additional chance to win the car. On October 27, 1986, for the CBS version, a winning contestant received one Joker for winning the match. When the show returned to CBS, and after the Money Cards, contestants did not play for a car.
